Coresa Training is at 142B 3rd Street West in Lower Lonsdale, a few doors west of Lonsdale Avenue and roughly a six to eight minute walk uphill from the Lonsdale Quay SeaBus terminal. From most North Shore neighbourhoods that is a typical off-peak drive of five to twenty-five minutes, one bus to Lonsdale Quay or to the R2 stop at 3rd Street, or a ride along the Spirit Trail. From downtown Vancouver it is a SeaBus crossing of about twelve minutes and the walk up the hill.
Every time on this page is a typical range, not a promise. Check the TransLink trip planner for the bus you will actually catch and a live maps app for the drive you will actually make, then read the notes on the 5:00 am open, the bridges and the parking, which are where most of the trip is won or lost.
The whole North Shore, one table
Find your area, then read across. Drive times are typical off-peak ranges; both bridges and the Upper Levels can double them at the wrong hour.
| Where you start | Typical off-peak drive (check live traffic) | The bus | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lower Lonsdale and Moodyville | 2 to 6 minutes, typical; most people walk | R2 Marine Drive RapidBus to the 3rd Street stop, or walk | Walking is often quicker than parking. The Spirit Trail runs along the waterfront below the studio. |
| Central Lonsdale | 5 to 10 minutes, typical | 230 on its way from Upper Lonsdale to Lonsdale Quay, then walk up; or walk downhill | A downhill walk in and an uphill walk home on tired legs. Plan for it. |
| Upper Lonsdale | 8 to 15 minutes, typical | 230 to Lonsdale Quay, then the six to eight minute walk up | Street parking is easy at dawn and tighter after work. |
| Lynn Valley | 10 to 20 minutes, typical | 228 or 229 to Lonsdale Quay | Evenings after the rush and weekend mornings are the easy runs. |
| Lynnmour, Seylynn and the Second Narrows side | 8 to 15 minutes, typical | R2 to the 3rd Street stop | Ironworkers Bridge traffic can spill onto the approach roads at peak. |
| Deep Cove, Seymour and Blueridge | 20 to 35 minutes, typical | 211 or 212 to Phibbs Exchange, then the R2 to the 3rd Street stop | The longest trip on the table. The 5:00 am window and weekend mornings are the reliable ones. |
| Edgemont, Capilano, Pemberton Heights and Norgate | 8 to 15 minutes, typical | 236 (Grouse Mountain to Lonsdale Quay via Capilano Road, Pemberton Heights and 3rd Street) or 246 (Highland to Lonsdale Quay via Marine Drive) | Both come along the Marine Drive and 3rd Street corridor toward the Quay. |
| West Vancouver (Ambleside, Dundarave, Park Royal) | 12 to 25 minutes, typical | 250, 253 or 255 to Park Royal, then the R2 to the 3rd Street stop | Neither the Lions Gate nor the Ironworkers is involved; Marine Drive runs straight through. |
| Downtown Vancouver | 20 to 40 minutes over the Lions Gate, typical and highly variable | SeaBus from Waterfront Station, about twelve minutes, then the walk up | Take the boat. The crossing is the most predictable leg on this table. |
Why the 5:00 am open matters if you cross a bridge
If your workday is on the far side of the Lions Gate or the Ironworkers, the 5:00 am open is the most useful fact on this page. A session that starts before the bridge traffic builds finishes before it too, so you train, change and leave Lower Lonsdale ahead of the crush rather than inside it. The same logic works in reverse at the end of the day: the studio closes at 8:00 pm, so an evening session after the bridges have cleared is often faster door to door than one that fights them.
For downtown workers who would rather not drive at all, the SeaBus does the same job. Training beside your SeaBus commute covers the morning and evening patterns, and the SeaBus commuter's routine covers the bag and the backup plan.
When to book to miss the bridge crush
Three rules, none of them precise, because bridge traffic is not. The weekday morning peak runs toward downtown and the afternoon peak runs back, so a North Shore studio is on the easy side of the bridges in the morning if you live here and on the hard side in the evening if you work downtown. Weekends are their own thing: ski and hiking traffic heads up Capilano Road and the Upper Levels early, then thins. And whatever you book, check a live maps app before you leave rather than trusting a range on a website, this one included.
- Live on the North Shore, work downtown: train first thing, then cross. Or train on the way home once the bridges have cleared.
- Live downtown, train here: SeaBus, not the Lions Gate, on any weekday.
- Coming from Deep Cove, Seymour or Lynn Valley on a weeknight: leave after the Ironworkers approach has settled, or book a weekend morning.
Street parking on 3rd Street West, honestly
There is no parking lot. Parking is on the street, and the blocks around 3rd Street West are the usual Lower Lonsdale mix of metered and time-limited spaces. At dawn it is easy; through the working day and into the evening it tightens, and the signage on your block is the only rule that counts. If you are driving in for a session after work, add a few minutes for the search, or park a block or two up the hill and walk down. Parking near the studio has the block by block picture.
Cycling in
The Spirit Trail runs along the waterfront through Lower Lonsdale, which makes it the pleasant route from the west and from the Moodyville side. From the trail it is a short climb up to 3rd Street. Where to lock a bike is a question to ask on the consult rather than one to assume; call (236) 868-9964 if it decides whether you ride.
Before you rely on any of it
- Run the trip once on a day nothing depends on it, at the hour you intend to keep.
- Use the TransLink trip planner for the bus and a live maps app for the drive; both know about today's roadworks and this page does not.
- Book the session before you leave, on the live schedule or the Coresa app, so the trip has a name on it.
- If you are coming a long way, look before you travel: the studio page shows the room you are coming to, and contact has the address and phone number for your maps app.
Doors are open 5:00 am to 8:00 pm, seven days a week, which is a wider window than most bridge crossings need.
Common questions
Which bus stop is closest to the studio?
The R2 Marine Drive RapidBus stop at 3rd Street, a short walk along 3rd Street West. If your bus ends at Lonsdale Quay instead, it is the six to eight minute walk uphill from the terminal.
Is it realistic to train here from Deep Cove or Lynn Valley on a weeknight?
Yes, if you pick the hour honestly. Both sit on the far side of the Ironworkers approach roads at peak, so a session that starts after the evening rush has thinned, or a weekend morning, is the reliable version. The 228 and 229 from Lynn Valley, and the 211 and 212 to Phibbs Exchange for the R2, give you a no-parking option either way.
Can I get to Coresa from West Vancouver without using a bridge?
Yes. Marine Drive runs from Ambleside and Dundarave straight into North Vancouver, where it becomes 3rd Street, and neither the Lions Gate nor the Ironworkers is involved. By bus, the 250, 253 and 255 reach Park Royal and the R2 continues to the 3rd Street stop.
What address should I put in my maps app?
142B 3rd Street West, North Vancouver, BC V7M 1E8. Look for the squat racks in the street windows a few doors west of Lonsdale Avenue. If your app routes you to the Quay instead, you are one uphill walk away.
Does the trip change in the rain season?
The roads and the buses are the same. What changes from roughly November to March is the light and the wet, so allow a couple of extra minutes at both ends of the day, and remember that the walk up from the terminal is short enough for a hood rather than a change of plan.
